AskTrish: Man Inquires If Menopause Means the End of Sex for Women

woman-nude-breast*NOTE*:  This question was asked of me on a yoga forum.  I have included my original response as well as some extra info here.

Trish,

Is menopause the wilting stage for women?

HELL NO!!!!!

Menopause is a WONDERFUL time for women sexually!  It’s the first time in a woman’s life that she can have true sexual freedom, knowing she can have as much sex as she wants and she can’t get pregnant.  Menopause is FREEING for women!  (Of course, safe sex measures should still be practiced to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.)

If a woman monitors her health, especially her hormones, women can enjoy sex right up till the day they die.  Hell, orgasm would be a great way to die! :-)  Just slip right on over to the Other Side since you’re already there anyway.

We enter the physical body for a reason — to have physical experiences.  One of the most joyous physical experiences is the sexual experience, whether partnered or solo.  As someone of Gaelic (Scotch-Irish) descent, I follow the path of my ancestors — we are spirit beings here to have physical experiences while maintaining our connection to the spiritual side.  So I’m enjoying the ride as much as I can.  :-)

* EXTRA*:  Use of synthetic hormones, i.e., synthetic Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), is now associated with increased risks of cancer in women.  Some women prefer using plant-based progesterone, which is a pre-cursor to both estrogen and testosterone.  Testosterone is required for a healthy libido in both men and women.  Too much estrogen is not good for either men or women.

Avoid getting extra estrogen from your food, such as unfermented soy which pervades the American food supply and is very high phytoestrogens.  Unfermented soy products include soy milk, soy baby formula, vegetable oil (soy/soybean), soy yogurt, soy cheese, soy creamer, soy ice cream, tofu — and any product made from tofu, etc.  Fermented soy products can be beneficial (as are all fermented foods), such as tempeh, miso, and tamari (real soy sauce).

Being healthy overall is required for a healthy vagina (or male prostate).  Get adequate amounts of vitamins and minerals from your foods and/or quality supplements, plus healthy saturated fats, Omega-3′s, etc., and stay AWAY from processed foods.  Buy organic, locally-grown food whenever you can.  Eat seasonally-grown foods.  Be able to source all your ingredients.  While on the course of improving your health, if you don’t make it from scratch, don’t eat it.

Being healthy will help minimize the symptoms of PMS and menopause — and YES, men do have hormonal fluctuations each month and later in life when their libido may drop due to declining health or bad dietary habits.  That is, men should be able to get and maintain erections whenever they want, regardless of age.  Erections are a direct result of a man’s health.

One of the side effects of menopause is vaginal dryness, or not making as much natural lubrication as a woman used to.  In fact, women can experience vaginal dryness at any age, especially if she ingests a lot of caffeine or other dehydrating substance, but a lessening in the production of vaginal juices can be common from the age of 40 onward.  Regardless of age, the vagina will let you know when she is lubricated enough for penetration.  Do NOT confuse a woman being aroused for sex with her vagina being ready for sex.  (Yes, men, this takes 15 to 30 minutes of “foreplay”.  Get over it.)

To avoid vaginal dryness and lack of libido, drink plenty of water each day — an ounce of water per pound of body weight.  Eat lots of veggies — I love my Franken-Salad.  Also, eat lean protein and complex carbs.  Whether or not you’re gluen-free, vegetables actually have lots of carbohydrates in them.  Eat healthy saturated fats such as macadamia nuts or other nuts, and get plenty of Omega-3′s from eggs, fish oil, and/or chia seeds.  Cacao (dark chocolate) is also great for boosting libido.

Menopause is NO reason to stop feeling sexy!  Use nutrition to supply your brain and body with peak quantities of the nutrients they need to function, with plenty left over for extracurricular fun-ctions like sex and orgasm.  Moderate exercise, such as walking, yoga, or dancing, is always great for maintaining a steady supply of the body’s happy hormones as well as keeping the muscles toned and ligaments and tendons flexible for interesting sex positions.  Don’t forget — sex is exercise, too!

Needing a little extra help with lubrication or libido is normal at any time in a woman’s (or man’s) life, especially if she’s (he’s) under a lot of stress.  However, there’s no reason to let your sex life go the way of the dinosaurs when a few changes in your nutrition, daily habits, and health can turn it all around.

No sex because of menopause?  Ha!  Sexual freedom, here we cum!

Health: Ear Problems on the Mend with Nature-Based Home Remedies

Trish Causey - Ear Infection Home Remedy - Probiotics Tea Tree Oil Colloidal Silver Nasal SprayTuesday night, while doing my radio show on “Sex & the Voice”, I noticed reverb in my left ear — a metallic echo whenever I or my guest spoke.  I assumed it was a problem with my headphones, which was worrisome since they are a good-quality Sony pair.

Wednesday morning, I awoke with some pain in my left ear and the metallic echo was much more pronounced any time I or someone else spoke.  I was not sure if this were being caused by a bug or if it were just fluid on my ears.  I knew I needed to do something.  I am not one to let anything in my ear, nose, throat area develop.  I will do whatever I can to kick a virus or infection in its proverbial butt immediately.

I upped my daily dose of probiotics and took 3 of them.  I then went across the street to the vegetarian restaurant, and both David and Beverly told me to try tea tree oil in my ear.  So I walked across the street in the opposite direction to the health food store, and Paul told me about an ear oil remedy that uses tea tree oil and a few other ingredients to help with the possible infection.

Coming home to do the drops of oil in both of my ears, I remembered the colloidal silver in the cabinet and did a couple sprays in each nostril to get that in my bloodstream.

I stayed away from sugar and caffeine and drank even more water than I usually do.  I did my radio show on “Astral Travel” that night, even though my ear hurt with every sound vibration through the headphones.

Early Thursday morning, I woke up and heard a white noise type of low buzz in my left ear.  Sound was magnified in that ear, and I noticed the metallic echo was more pronounced, and it actually had a millisecond delay — the whole thing reminded me of when I’m mixing audio and playing with the reverb effects and wet/dry levels.

I continued with the 3 probiotics 3 times per day, the 2 sprays of colloidal silver in each nostril every 2 to 3 hours, and 3 to 4 drops of the ear oil remedy in each ear several times each day.  I also kept up my daily regimen of organic women’s multivitamin, organic B-complex, and fish oil… (I had forgotten my fish oil the past couple of days, which I usually take to keep my Omega-3′s up… Oops.)

As of today, Friday, I have no pain, no reverb or echo, and no white noise/buzz.  My ear feels fine and seems to be hearing everything normally.

I only relay this information to share what I do to heal myself since I believe in nature-based, alternative health remedies — and I can’t afford insurance, so I must take my health into my own hands.  It is also proof that I don’t need to give my money to Big Pharma.

If you know any other natural, alternative remedies for ear issues, please(!) leave a comment below.

NEWS: FDA’s Emergency Contraception Plan for Plan B Contradicts Court Ruling

© 2013 by Trish Causey. All Rights Reserved.
Plan-B-morning-after-pill-emergency-contraception05-01-2013

The wonderful victory for all females in the United States to have access to emergency contraception without a prescription has been foiled by the evil charlatans at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Justice Department.

The Center for Reproductive Rights’ (CRR) had filed a lawsuit against the FDA to require emergency birth control pills be available without restriction, an effort to remove the obstacle and perhaps shame of getting a prescription from a doctor. On April 5, 2013, U.S. District Court Judge Edward Korman ruled that the FDA must make emergency contraception, a.k.a. the morning after pill, available over the counter without an age-limit restriction within 30 days of the ruling.

Instead of complying with this basic right all women should have — and do have thanks to this ruling, the FDA announced it would make Plan B and Next Choice-type emergency contraception available over the counter to females aged 15 and up, in direct violation of the court’s ruling. (The FDA says its decision was in no way affected by Korman’s ruling.) The FDA has thrown in a requirement for the female buying the emergency contraception to provide proof of age for the purchase. As the CRR and other activists have noted, this may prove problematic since some states do not allow teenagers to get a driver’s license until the age of 16, so 15 year old girls might have a difficult time proving their age.

Meanwhile, U.S. Attorney Loretta Lynch sent an appeal of Korman’s ruling to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals to suspend the ruling until further notice. The Obama administration subsequently announced it will appeal the Justice Department’s appeal, if need be. So for now, the FDA’s asinine proclamation of limiting Plan B et al will stand, complete with photo I.D. and age-requirement intact.

Time will tell if the original court ruling will win the day and allow all females to have access to emergency birth control without politics interfering with our individual right to body autonomy.

Health: The Human Energy Field, by Valerie V. Hunt, Ph.D.

Chakra-aura-orgasm-energy-systemThe Human Energy Field: An Interview with Valerie V. Hunt, Ph.D. via The Human Energy Field: An Interview with Valerie V. Hunt, Ph.D.

When the pattern of the electromagnetism is disturbed in the body, you will get disease and malfunction. And this electromagnetic pattern can be disturbed in a number of ways: genetically, due to the nature of the tissue, although I don’t think that’s a major factor; experientially, due to lifestyle patterns; or emotionally, which I think is the primary factor. What happens is there is a disturbance that occurs in the electromagnetism of the tissue, which will eventually alter the chemistry. And actually this goes clear to the DNA. I predict we will learn before long that the DNA is reprogrammed by the emotional organization of the energy field. I am not saying this simply. I have had experiences here.

What you are saying, then, is that the primary cause of all disease occurs first and foremost in the field. Correct?

Absolutely. Many people are coming to that conclusion theoretically. I’m coming to it through my research.

Conversely, then, for healing to truly occur, it has to occur in the field, as well.

All healing that takes place in alternative medicine is electromagnetic. Whether it’s the laying on of hands, Tai Chi, meditation — everything that takes place, even the thought process, or the person’s intent or spiritual state, changes the electromagnetic field and changes it almost instantaneously. Now if it stays changed and improved, the body heals itself, and the chemistry reorganizes. This biochemical reorganization is the effect that medicine is working upon. Medicine has never, ever cured anything. The body cures itself. Sometimes, in emergency situations, we need the offset of biochemistry, but not as a cure of disease. It never has cured disease, and it never will cure disease. Only if the field changes will there be a true cure.

Recipe: Almond Milk & Chia Seed Vegan Drink for Omega-3

Copyright 2013 by Trish Causey. All Rights Reserved.

almond-milk-chia-seed-drinkA quick recipe for a quick drink that can be the vegan answer to taking fish oil for Omega-3′s!

Omega-3 is an essential fatty acid that your body must have but cannot produce on its own, so we have to get it from our food.  Omega-3′s are required by the brain for proper cognitive function, and recent research is starting to link Omega-3 deficiency and Alzheimer’s.  Omega-3′s are also shown to lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients and decrease internal inflammation that affects joints and organs.  Plus, Omega-3′s help with arthritis, depression, and mood swings.

What does that mean for orgasms?  Proper blood circulation is required for erections (in men and women), and of course, nothing works if the bowling ball on your shoulders isn’t working to keep all your bits and pieces functioning in top form.

I still take fish oil for Omega-3′s, but I’ve started incorporating this drink into my morning regimen.  When I first go into the kitchen, I start this and let it sit while I’m making breakfast and yelling at the child to get up and get ready for school.

While there is a debate whether the fish oil source of Omega-3′s is better than the plant-source, chia seeds are a great vegan option for getting your essential Omega-3′s.

The recipe below is based on a drink I saw online on Dr Oz’s website, but I like mine better.

The almond milk is simply the carrier of the chia seeds.  Also, almond milk is non-dairy, which makes it groovy for vegans.  At only 40 calories per cup, almond milk doesn’t have the calories, fat, or sugar content of milk.  This unsweetened “original” formula, Almond Breeze, by Blue Diamond has the fewest number of additive ingredients than others on the market.  Of course, you can make your own almond milk, but I haven’t gone that far… yet…

These are actual Chia Seeds — if you remember the TV commercials for the tiny green ground-cover plant on clay figurines with the voice-over singers chanting, “Cha-Cha-Cha-Chia!” … yes… those chia seeds.

Chia Seeds are the best kept secret in the Omega-3 world, as far as I’m concerned.  While flaxseed is more famous, chia seeds have more Omega-3′s than flax, in a better ratio to the unfavorable Omega-6, and taste much better than flaxseed, to me.  Unlike flaxseeds which cannot be digested whole by the body, chia seeds can be eaten whole.  Two tablespoons of whole chia seeds provides 2,500 mg Omega-3, 6g dietary fiber, and 2g protein.

I use powdered stevia to sweeten the drink because I don’t want to use sugar.  Stevia is an herb, and teaspoon to teaspoon, stevia is 600 times sweeter than sugar.  The vanilla is to help the overall flavor of the drink, especially if you’re using the chia seed meal (pre-ground chia seeds) as I am right now — I grabbed the wrong bag at the health store, not realizing the ground seeds were right next to the whole chia seeds.  (Grrrrrrrrrr….)

Almond Milk & Chia Seed Vegan Drink for Omega-3′s

1 Cup almond milk

2 Tablespoons chia seeds (2.5 Tablespoons if using ground chia seeds)

1/4 teaspoon real vanilla extract

1 to 2 stevia packets, optional

2 Tablespoons freshly puréed fruit, optional

In a small glass, stir almond milk and chia seeds together and allow to sit on the counter for 15 minutes, or until the milk becomes slightly thickened by the chia seeds.  Add the vanilla and the stevia packet(s) if you want to sweeten it.  You can also add any freshly puréed fruit, such as strawberries or oranges, etc.  Stir and drink.

Enjoy!

Mind, Body, Spirit: Breathing ~ the Importance of Being Inspired Repeatedly

phoenix-gold-fire-blaze1I can think of no better place to begin discussing Mind, Body, and Spirit topics than with breathing.  Considering that the act of breathing is something most of us take for granted, the role of breathwork and mindful breathing can be truly transformative to your mind, your body, and your spirit.

The process of breathing is a complex coordinated effort that involves the whole torso, not just the lungs.  If you follow a yogic or body awareness path, then breathing can be a full-body sport.  As a voice teacher, I start all my students on ujjayi breathing, the belly breathing technique from yoga, before we sing any scales or attempt any songs.  The student must begin to incorporate ujjayi breathing into their everyday life and subsequently into their singing.  Phonation (sound production) is based on airflow.  While vocal science research has shown that the vocal folds are responsible for controlling airflow across the vocal folds when we speak or sing, breathing is a coordinated dance of the abdominal muscles, the thoracic and pelvic diaphragms, as well as the internal and external intercostal muscles of the ribcage (to say nothing of the bronchi and alveoli inside the lungs responsible for the gas exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide).

Deep, calm breathing has many relaxing and healthful benefits mentally and somatically.

Mind:

When we are under stress, nervous, or anxious, the body releases stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol.  An adrenal response evolved from the human body’s early days, adrenaline is great if you’re chasing a mammoth or running from a saber-tooth tiger.  It’s not so great if you’re about to go on stage to recite your lines or enter a restaurant on a first date.  Adrenaline floods the brain, sort of shutting down the frontal lobes, which are responsible for things like language.  (Another reason being nervous before an audition or a date can leave you stumbling for words like a blithering idiot.)  With the frontal cortex on coffee break, the primal brain takes over and straddles the fence in fight-or-flight mode.  Deep, slow breathing can counter all of this, calming the mind and allowing the stress to be manageable so you can deal with it like a rational human and not a caveman.  Breathwork allows you to focus on the task at hand or ease your pesky thoughts away if you’re trying to meditate.

Try sitting alone, with all noisy electronic devices turned OFF, and just breath deeply for 10 or 15 minutes.

Body:

Breathing is the action by which we replenish that chemical that is pertinent to our existence:  oxygen.  Breathing high in the chest — upper chest breathing — is a style of breathing in early English and French singing, but it is not recommended for any singing, speaking, or breathwork, in my opinion, because upper chest breathing also triggers the release of adrenaline.  Breathe low in the belly, breathing down into the pelvic diaphragm.  In voice, this style of breathing is called appoggio, but it is basically ujjayi breathing.  I’ve been known to have students lie on the floor or sit against the wall in chair pose to feel the expansion of the back while breathing and singing.  While on the floor, I have them place their binder or sheet music on their stomach so they can see when the book rises and falls and learn to associate that feeling with proper, deep abdominal expansion and contraction.  A mirror is crucial to see the ribs moving outward away from the torso.

When we focus on breathing, we tend to focus on our body and our alignment, taking an inventory of how we’re doing physically.  Tantra and Kundalini paths use different breathing exercises like kapala bhati and bhastrika that really, really work the body — these are powerful breath practices that require guidance from a teacher, especially if you’re engaging the body by applying “locks” at certain chakras.  And in case you’re wondering, oxygen feeds orgasms!

A basic Sun Salutation is a great way to combine deep breath and body work to get the blood and oxygen flowing.

Spirit:

The word spirit comes from the Latin spiritus meaning “soul, vigor, breath,” derived from the word spirare which means “to breathe,” the root of both of these being spir.  When we are born, the first thing we do once the umbilical cord is cut is breathe — we take in breath, we are in-spir-ed, or inspired.  The last thing we do before we shake off this mortal coil is to exhale our last breath — ex-spire, or expire.  In between that first inspiration and our final expiration, we take in and release breath repeatedly, or as we call it re-spir-ation, the act of respiration.

It is no coincidence to me that the lungs are located right there at the heart chakra.  Whenever we are touched emotionally — in a good way or unpleasant way, we tend to either gasp, inhale quickly, or exhale in sadness or disbelief.  I feel our emotions and breath are connected.  Mindful breathing helps us stay rooted, grounded to the earth, when circumstances leave our mind — or our heart — reeling.  Deep breathing can also lower blood pressure and slow a racing pulse.

Breathwork is absolutely fundamental to being healthy.  The art of being inspired repeatedly throughout our life is as simple as breathing.  When we’re overwhelmed, overly excited, can’t focus, or can’t think, deep breathing can help keep us centered and better prepared to relax into our task at hand or meditation session.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,

Health & Nutrition: The Primal/Paleo Diet vs. Vegetarian/Vegan

Man-from-chimp-to-caveman-to-fat-lard-assSo I have been investigating the vegetarian lifestyle, briefly looking in on the vegan ideals and deciding I will definitely not be vegan at this point in my life.  Just because a person is vegetarian doesn’t mean he or she is healthy — some vegetarians are actually carb-atarians, overweight, with the same vascular and insulin problems as the rest of America.

I eat organic, free-range, grass-fed, no-homones, no-antiobitics, non-GMO food as much as I can.  I’ve looked into the differences in protein sources, accessibility of vitamins and minerals, balances of Omega-3 and Omega-6 ratios, etc.  Depending on what path you want to follow, you can find solid reasoning to go either animal or plant-based in your diet.  But I’m not after a “diet,” I want nutrition — fuel and nutrients for my body to keep me healthy and kicking for at least another 45 years.

I have to say that I don’t enjoy eating food.  Frankly, eating meals annoys me.  I have other things to do with my time — mainly because I’m the preparer and the dishwasher around here.  Forty minutes to cook and 20 minutes to clean up simply do not make the 5 to 10 minutes of eating worthwhile to me.  Even mindful eating can get annoying… I’d rather be working.

While I can appreciate the ethical arguments against eating meat, I, personally, do not see a problem eating an animal that is humanely raised and butchered.  After all, when I die, I will be placed in the ground, un-embalmed, with a tree planted on top of my rotting corpse — the tree is to provide shelter for animals, shade for anyone on a hot day, and of course oxygen for breathing.

To those who say there is a spiritual reason for not eating meat, other cultures offer equally justifiable reasons for eating meat, i.e., buffalo, salmon, deer, etc.  However, I’ve also been told and have read that eating meat grounds a person, making astral travel, psychic dreams, clairvoyent/clairaudient experiences more difficult to near impossible.

For myself, as an Energist, I know that there is energy transference from the food we eat to our bodies.  Animals inhumanely raised and slaughtered have a bad energy that affects our health — just look at Americans — we are not healthy people.  But eating grass-fed, free-range animals like in the old days must have a different effect on our energy bodies, yes?  Before livestock, dairy, and soybeans became the mega-money industries they are today, what was it like to truly live off the land?  And not eat Franken-foods designed in a lab solely for profit?

I’ve studied The Body Ecology Diet by Donna Gates, and I really like her work.  I’ve also delved into the Blood Type Diet, since I’m not a blood type O, and have found some interesting points in that as well.  And of course, there’s the Orgasm Diet.

I’ve lost 82 pounds, but I need to kick-start this plateau.  I’ve enjoyed this plateau because I knew my body needed a rest.  And frankly, at this point, all this information is just confusing.  For me, this is not about losing more weight — I want to feed my body the best-sourced nutrients — losing more weight will be an added bonus.  All I want is a body that is healthy, fit, mobile, and primed for orgasms!  :-)

The past couple of days then, I’ve been researching the Primal and Paleo diets with a bit more earnest.  I did fat-free years ago — gained weight.  Did Adkins — loathed eating that much meat.  Essentially, I have had the undeniable realization that I simply MUST get off sugar and grains.  I already don’t eat corn or corn syrups, don’t eat potato chips, popcorn, snacks, etc. I don’t eat anything store-bought in a box or bag other than single ingredients like rice, chocolate chips, romaine, etc. (except pot stickers, which I will have to give up as well… le sigh…).

I currently don’t eat red meat or pork.  I still eat eggs, chicken, and turkey — recently calling myself a Turkey-tarian. :-)  I’ve started making my own butter and buttermilk and will be making my own yogurt, kefir, cheese, etc., soon.

So I’d like to know what all of you are doing to get healthy, be healthy, lose weight, get/stay strong and in shape.  I’m not worried about a number on the scale, per se, but I do want to continue my journey to reclaiming my body.  I’ve done a lot of work already to reclaim my body sexually and physically, but now, I am at another “fork” in the road here, and I’m having trouble deciding between going vegetarian or going primal.

Thoughts?  Experiences?  Ideas?  Please leave a comment below!

Thank you!

More New Series: What I Really Think About…, Dreams, Recipes, & More…

FireGoddessI recently announced new categories for posts on the topics of Health, Fitness, and Nutrition, and I’ve decided to take my ramblings a step further… and delve into other topics that are both mainstream and esoteric.

Hardly a day goes by that I don’t get an email, a tweet, or Tumblr Ask from a reader who wants to know my opinion on some topic regarding sexuality, health, fitness, women’s issues, or alternative subject:  “Hey, Trish, what do you think about…” … porn… lingerie… anal sex… “Trish, do you have any thoughts about…” … marijuana… astral travel… the Saints winning another Super Bowl…

Well, of course, I do!  (And no, the Saints will never win another Super Bowl.  We never thought they’d win a first one!)

I have tucked my opinions about many topics within my posts here on my AW Blog, and my OpEd posts have addressed certain topics du jour.  But I want to respond to these general topic requests that I feel are different from my AskTrish posts, which deal with a person’s specific situation.  So my new “What I Really Think About…” posts will be filed under the new category WIRTA.

Also, I will be starting new series of posts on Dreams because dreams can be very important, as well as Recipes to help fuel your nutrition and aphrodisiac needs, plus other out-there, bohemian, pagan, witchy, crazy, alternative, quantum, woo-woo topics that tickle my fancy and make me ponder the meaning of life in the multiverse as a ball of energy hanging out in a physical meat-suit — this existence being a cozy boho-fabulous place I like to call Trishtopia. :-)

So look for my new series beginning in March!

Health, Fitness, & Nutrition: New Articles’ Series From ArousedWoman!

Coregasm: Orgasm While Doing Abs/Core ExercisesNow that we’re moving into 2013, I want to start a few new series for my ArousedWoman readers that focus on Health, Fitness,  and Nutrition, respectively.

These will be separate categories but they certainly intertwine in their importance.  Overall health is required for vibrant sexual response — even if you’re not with a partner.  You cannot be truly healthy if you exercise a lot but then eat junk food on a regular basis.  Likewise, eating a healthy diet but not allowing your body to utilize its full range of motion can adversely affect the muscles, tendons, ligaments, even your bone density and skeletal frame.

There is energy transference from the food you eat; and if you ingest unhealthy, “dead” energy, you are unhealthy, “dead” energy.  The body can mask the mounting long-term effects of eating the Standard American Diet (SAD) until it seems too late.  However, no matter how old you are or how long you’ve been out of shape, it’s never too late to revamp your approach to your health.  After all, erections and orgasms require happy muscles and healthy blood vessels!

Your approach to balancing your overall health should include stress-reducing practices such as moderate exercise and meditation(!!!).  No New Age woo-woo stuff here, people.  Science is finally catching up to what yogis have known for millennia.  Meditation is very good for you!  Not only is meditation great for your mind, but it is also beneficial for your body by increasing oxygen intake, lowering blood pressure, and controlling stress hormones.

On the short list for topics, I will be discussing diet choices for aphrodisiac nutrition, primal/paleo vs. vegetarian/vegan, vitamins and minerals supplements, as well as fitness tips for functional strength/resistance training, flexibility, and range of motion, and other lifestyle choices that will keep your body in optimal orgasmic health.  This summer, I hope to begin a video series on all this as well.

You only have one meat-suit, people.  Take care of it while you’re using it this lifetime. :-)

AskTrish: Woman Married 15 Years Can Only Orgasm to Porn

nude-woman-artistic-female-formDear Trish,

I’ve been married for almost 15 years.  Before I got married, I used to have orgasms without a problem during intercourse, and I was very active and sexual woman.  Now, AFTER 15 years, we have sex like every three or four months and worse, without orgasms… well, once a year if I’m really lucky.  I only get an orgasm while watching porn and masturbating myself — so, I’m not anorgasmic — but it doesn’t happen while having sex with him.  Even when I’m aroused and really try to have an orgasm mental and physically, it just doesn’t happen.  I talked to him, but it’s not enough.

I LOOOVEEEE sex, I like sex, and even for a while I resigned myself to abstinence.  Well, I suppose that I am the problem, but I cannot find the solution.  I want to enjoy sex, and literally shout out myself for pleasure and orgasm during intercourse but well… here I am asking for help.   Love my husband and I wish I could surrender myself into his arms and enjoy and cry out for pleasure.  Any thoughts?

Anonymous

Dear Anonymous,

Right off the bat, I see at least three major things that need to be addressed, and hear me when I say, YOU are NOT the sole issue that needs help here.  It takes two to tango, and in a relationship, each partner is 100% responsible for participating in their 50% of the partnership.

The word relationship does not mean “suffer in silence,” as you seem to be doing — I know that’s how I felt in my miserable 15-year marriage with orgasmless sex.  (At least you like your guy!)  A relationship is supposed to be two (or more) people actively relating to each other.  I don’t see much relating at all here.  But let’s begin this conversation with you…

You didn’t tell me your age, so for round numbers, let’s say you’re 40 years old and got married at 25.  In your early 20′s then, you were a vibrant, happy, sexual, naturally orgasmic woman.  Fast forward 15 years, you’re experiencing issues with orgasm with a husband who is uninterested in “fixing” a relationship he apparently doesn’t view as being problematic.

From a physical standpoint, the body completely regenerates every cell in the body within about three years.  So you are literally not the same person you were then — your body has completely re-created itself 5 times since then.  Now, at “40,” your hormone levels are different, your blood chemistry is different, and this isn’t even considering if you take prescription medication on a regular basis that can upset your body’s chemical balance, or have unhealthy nutrition habits, too much alcohol or caffeine intake, etc.

My first recommendation to you is to get your bloodwork done and see what your hormone levels are — do you make enough testosterone?  Testosterone is required for women’s sexuality, believe it or not.  When we’re younger, we have plenty of it (without seeming masculine), but as we get older, women’s testosterone levels drop significantly.  This can be made worse if you have been taking products that give you extra estrogen, such as birth control, or eating unfermented soy products like soy milk, soy yogurt, or ingesting too many foods made with soy.  Also get your thyroid levels checked as the thyroid regulates hormone production in the body.

The second area I would address if I were you is the porn.  Don’t get me wrong, I love to watch beautiful, sensual erotica myself, but as with any item we start to “rely” on for orgasm, porn may now be a “crutch” for you.  I gave up vibrators when I could no longer have an orgasm without them — I literally had no feeling in my clit or labia, and I wasn’t even using a vibrator that often.  It took six months to be able to feel any sensation in my clit.  You may have gotten to the point where you’ve unconsciously talked yourself into reaching climax “only” when watching porn, so the orgasm is less about your sexual happiness and connection to your self and more about a psychosomatic reflex — “muscle memory” triggered by watching porn, if you will.

Go porn-less for a few months and get back in touch with your body.  Your body was naturally orgasmic.  Allow the muscles and nerves and your autonomic nervous system to re-learn what came so easily back then — awaken that “muscle” memory!  This will take time and will likely be very frustrating.  I invite you to read through my DailyOJ if you want a friend-in-frustration because I certainly understand.  I would recommend my “Allowing and Receiving post” any time you really feel the pull to give up the bodywork and go back to the porn.  Again, I’m not saying you should never watch erotica again, just take a break for a little while.  Or watch some erotica or scroll through my Tumblr to get the juices flowing, then turn it off when you start masturbating.  Relax into your body, focusing on your body’s wants and needs, not what you think your body “should” want or how it “should” act/react.  Read my post on “Lying Broken in Pieces As I Heal” to see this process from a different perspective.

The third issue here is the infrequency of the sexual relationship with your husband.  I am wondering, “What’s wrong with him that he doesn’t want to make love to a woman just starting her sexual prime?  What’s going on in his work?  His life outside the relationship — with him as a man?  What stresses does he experience with his job, deadlines, co-workers?  Does he have any addictions (food, caffeine, alcohol, other) that could be affecting him?  Does he have health issues that are affecting his emotions, blood circulation, sexual drive, and even his mental/psychological state?  Does he experience erectile dysfunction?  Is he not making enough testosterone at this point in his life?”  Yes, men make less testosterone as they get older as well.

As a man in his 40′s, let’s say, he may have been brought up in the last generation of boys who were taught to solve problems for themselves, don’t ask for help — that’s a sign of “weakness,” men have to have all the answers, be the leaders.  Men are still suffering from the strong-silent-type John Wayne persona they were forced to emulate all the while being fed the Renaissance Man/Prince stereotype who is supposed to sweep a woman off her feet, romance her endlessly, and the relationship bliss and passion just happen all the time by magic — as women have been brainwashed into believing thanks to “princess” animated movies, romance novels, and daytime soaps.

Orgasms can seem easy enough if you find the right sex position.  But the want has to really be there as well as a healthy mind and a healthy body.  It doesn’t sound to me like he wants to bridge the divide here.  Sex 4 times a year is not a true relating-ship, in my opinion, especially since you have tried to talk with him and he has not been receptive to communication.  There are deeper issues going on with him that he may not feel comfortable sharing… yet.

Getting back to you, though, I hope you’re not expecting him to “give” you orgasms or “make” you cum.  You are 100% responsible for your own orgasms during sex — or even solo.  I see you understand that orgasm is a mental process first for a woman.  After all the disappointment you’ve faced with this, your mental outlook may verge on the pessimistic side.  You have work to do, for sure, and you need to work on yourself and your self first.

Okay… I lied… there’s a fourth thing I want you to consider…

In this post on orgasms, I explain there are different types of orgasms: the physical reflex and the energetic response.  You can frig off for hours and never orgasm, much less climax.  Or you can rewire the body to the point where you just think the word “orgasm,” and you’re off into the La-La Land of Bliss.  Get back to your body, and rewire from the parasympathetic nervous system outward.  And remember, I’m working on an orgasm training method that teaches this very thing, so be sure to sign up for my newsletter.

I know, I know… Other peolpe are going to suggest you do all the work here — add the “romance” back in, wear some lingerie, light candles, cook him a nice dinner, give him a massage to loosen him up to get him in the mood.  This is all superficial bullshit.  Your relationship needs true communication re-building, and that begins with honest dialogue, not pretending the problems away.

To begin this journey of healing, begin with yourself.  To heal the relationship, you MUST sit him down, either just the two of you or with a counselor.  You cannot save the sex or the relationship by yourself.

I most heartfully wish you well in this.  And for more in-depth personalized advice, I also do consults via phone or Skype.

Take care,

trish

NEWS: ArousedWoman Focuses on “Awakening Sexuality in Mind, Body, & Spirit”

Kundalini Crown Chakra AwakeningIf you read my post from the other day, you know ArousedWoman is now 1 year old — and what a year it has been!  I did not set out to create what ArousedWoman has become — I just followed my heart to continue my activism for myself personally and “to stir to action” and “awaken” others to the need for activism for women’s rights and other issues collectively.  And poof!  ArousedWoman is now arousing readers around the world.

As I review everything that’s gone on in 2012, I am re-focusing ArousedWoman for 2013 and beyond.  My activism is definitely still here (sorry, men :-)), but I want to hone in on specifics to awaken people to healthy sexuality and a sex-positive outlook.  Sex is not about control, or pain, or staying quiet to keep the peace in a relationship.  Our sexual happiness is fundamental to our happiness as human beings, and I don’t think true happiness is possible if we’re playing manipulative games within our sexual relationships.

If you’ve read much of my blog, then you’ll know that I approach sexuality from a Tantric perspective, with leanings toward Kundalini and other ancient wisdom.  With so many people trying to find their sexual identity in our 21st century soulless culture, a link to the past is a good grounding for wading through the murky flotsam and getsam of shame, fear, and guilt pervading our Puritanical society.

I think the human body is beautiful.  Sex is beautiful.  Orgasms are beautiful — and natural — and healthy.  With that as my foundation, I am re-focusing ArousedWoman to “Awakening Sexuality in Mind, Body, and Spirit.”

Not just a sex blog, I want to help people on a myriad of levels.  Sexual health begins in the mind, but vitality of the body and spirit are just as crucial to being happy sexually, and in turn, happy in your everyday life.  And my dear atheist readers, don’t get scared by the word “spirit”!  Spirit has nothing to do with religion (religion is an evil pyramid scheme for an elite core of men to gain and maintain their power and wealth).  I may throw some good ol’ pagan sex rite stuff in here occasionally, but trust me, religion is NOT on the menu here!

Orgasm is not just a physical phenomenon but more truly an intangible response of the subtle body and the parasympathetic nervous system.  I will cover some non-traditional aspects of holistic growth such as exploring dreams, meditation, breathing, stress relief, raising energy, shamanism, Tantric bodywork, bioenergetics, the brain vs. the mind, meat-based diet vs. vegetarianism, nutrition, exercise, and controversial topics such as entheogens and polyamory, to name a few.

Beginning this summer, I will be creating videos that address some of the issues and posting them on my new YouTube page.  The videos will cover anatomy, nutrition, exercise, and more topics that I will also cover here in the blog.  Why not sooner, you may ask?  I need to get a video camera with a mic input.  So until I upgrade to an iPhone or shell out some moolah for an actual digicam with a mic input, the videos will be on hold till summer-ish.

And I’m close to announcing the beta test for my orgasm training method, so be sure to sign up for my newsletter for more information on how to apply for that when the time comes.

All in all, I am profoundly grateful for all my new friends I’ve gained in the past year.  It really has been amazing!  Looking ahead, 2013 is destined to be even better.  Stay tuned for exciting developments!

DailyOJ 01-26-13, Part 1: Morning Arousal & Orgasm Diet Regimen

woman-fingering-clit-mons-pubis-editedThis morning, I awoke knowing that I’d been dreaming, with a vague recollection of the dream, who was there, and that it didn’t seem to be a dream I needed to remember.  I started to roll over from my side to my back. As I did, my legs opened up, and I instantly felt the throbbing sensation of arousal, and I knew I was really, really wet.  I’ve had some issues with being wet — or lack thereof — fearing that now that I’m 40, it’s all down hill, and thinking back to my younger days when I was so wet, my ex used to complain I’d get too wet during sex.

Using a couple of fingers to feel what was going on, my outer labia were swollen, hot velvet, and my inner labia were thick and hot and wet, just as they are after a series of delicious orgasms… maybe I orgasmed while sleeping (wouldn’t be the first time)… though I don’t know why I would have — the dream was in no way sexy or sexual.  Smearing the juices all over my clit and labia felt amazing, and I thought, “What did I do?!”

Last night, I had my nipple-gasms and my stealth clit-gasms but nothing penetrative or even too hands-on.  All touch was light, barely brushing-the-skin caresses, gliding my fingers across my skin.  And I drifted off to sleep on a cloud of full-body orgasms that left me feeling light and floating, as opposed to feeling tired the way manually “worked for” orgasms can drain energy.

Then I thought about what I had eaten yesterday.  I thought, “That must be it!” Just going over in my head what I ate and drank, I could see that I had had more Omega 3-rich foods and remembered this same super-wet phenomenon had happened before when I went “over” what the “experts” say should be consumed in one day.

Supposedly, a person shouldn’t have more than 2,000 mg of Omega 3 in one day.  No one really knows what is too much, but someone somewhere decided 2,000 mg was enough.

My food consumption for yesterday was as follows:

  • Breakfast – 1 cup almond milk with 1 tablespoon chia seed (which has 1,250 mg Omega 3), a couple small pieces of turkey sausage cooked in organic coconut oil, and 4 scrambled (cage-free) eggs (250 mg Omega 3 each) cooked in butter.  ***Note:  I woke up late, and made breakfast, but my hormonal teenage daughter walked into the kitchen, smelled the sausage and eggs, and walked out. So I ate her eggs as well as mine for a total of 4 eggs — I can’t afford to throw out food! ***
  • Lunch – vegetarian fare at the Hare Krishna restaurant: 1 cup of an amazing dahl (soup), 2 cabbage pakoras, an oatmeal cookie, and tea (brewed with cinnamon, clove, and something floral).
  • Dinner – sweet potato candied in butter with a dash of sea salt (OMG delicious!), 3 potstickers cooked in grapeseed oil, and sauteed organic Romaine, with my super awesome dipping sauce.
  • Other – I drink about a gallon of water each day, and yes, I had some Diet Coke. While at the computer, I ate some bittersweet Ghiradelli chocolate chips, and throughout the day, I took 4 of my fish oil capsules which have 1,060 mg Omega 3 each.  And of course, I went out walking a few times to get my Vitamin D.

So, all totaled — 1 T chia seed, 4 eggs, and 4 fish oils = 6,490 mg just in Omega 3, and that doesn’t include the Omegas of the grapeseed oil, coconut oil, chocolate, and anything else I had. My food was mostly vegetarian.  The water I drink is tap water, but I always drink it cold over ice — I’m not a hot-beverage person.  (Side note:  I recently realized I have an ice fetish… must be an Irish thing…)

Clearly, Omega 3′s, chocolate, and water are the key to being super wet — for me, anyway.

Feeling how super wet I was, I just played in the juices for a while.  They felt wonderful. I made a mental note not to allow stress to deter me from paying attention to my health anymore.  Some days, I get so annoyed with things I want to pull my hair out, and I forget to take my fish oil or I don’t drink enough water — then I wonder why I’m not as wet as I used to be….  Being 40 doesn’t have to mean being a dried up ol’ prune! My vagina’s hydration level is most definitely related to my hormone levels and my water intake (since vaginal fluid is derived from blood plasma).

Needless to say, I definitely decided to have a morning O session — both hands on and alternately in, and it was spectacular! With the other sessions I’d had this week with the glass toy, my hands were ready for an old fashioned blended-O series of orgasms. It really, truly was amazing.  I was breathless and speechless and in awe.  The lava flow was incredible.

Afterward, I just lay there, exhausted but exhilarated, no crying (but that was perfectly fine), with my hands on my torso, my arms supporting my breasts. I felt this strong throbbing, as if my heart were beating out of my chest.  I looked down to see it was my right breast — she felt as if I had another heart inside the breast herself because I could feel my breast “beating” against my arm.  Weird but cool.  But weird.

That faded, but it was a long while until the after-O’s calmed down.  And I was still so very wet…

I stayed in bed for a while, then heard the crowds setting up for the Mardi Gras parade, so I decided to get up and get my caffeine (Diet Coke) before the parade stared.  I went about my day, and it was a great day…

Until…

NEWS: Raising $$$ for ArousedWoman Radio & Forum!

This is a quick note to let everyone know that I am taking the bull by the horns and starting up the Radio show and Forum that I’ve been wanting to create for a while now.

So many people ask me if I do podcasts, and I have to tell them, yes, but not yet for AW.  Well, that’s changing!

While we dream of Utopia, running a radio show and hosting a forum is not free.  It costs money for the licensed platforms even when the daily toil of maintaining each is based on sweat equity.

AW Radio will cover all aspects of the AW raison d’etre  including Women’s Sexuality, Women’s Rights, LGBT, Survivors of Abuse, Religious Freedom, Indigenous Rights, Environmental Issues, Healthcare, Anti-Circumcision/Body Autonomy issues, and more.

The AW Forum will provide a safe place for like-minded individuals and orgs to talk about issues, recovery, and more importantly, foster solutions to put into practice. The Forum will be membership-based (to keep out the crazies) at $14.95/year, with a portion of the proceeds being donated annually to 2 organizations as voted on by the Forum community.

For more info on the Radio show as well as the Forum, visit my GoFundMe page I’ve started.  Donations are securely processed by either WePay or PayPal (your choice!).

Be sure to check out the REWARD that accompanies each donation level, and make a TAX-DEDUCTIBLE donation if you can.

Thank you!

Coregasm: Orgasm While Doing Abs/Core Exercises

I hate working my abs, which is why I never do.  I do consciously engage them when I’m doing everyday things, when I lift something, or ride my bike.  And I’ve become more purposely conscious of how my torso moves during sexual arousal and through orgasms (as much as I’m able to think).  Sometimes I focus more on my abs, other times, I’m concentrating on my glutes during sex.  Hey, it’s all exercise, right? :-)

Coregasm is the pleasurable phenomenon of experiencing an orgasm while doing abdominal workouts, particularly exercises that engage the lower abs.  Coregasm has been a hush-hush delight in the “gym rat” world, but word is getting out, and women around the country are now racing each other to get the Roman Chair machine before someone else does.

This ab/orgasm seems to hit after having done a few sets of lower ab work, when you’re near muscle failure.  Some women have full-on orgasms while others experience intense arousal, still others report zaps of excitement.  Even better, men report experiencing this kind of orgasm as well!

The lower abs are the abdominal muscles below the belly button.  They are hard to isolate without falling into the trap of engaging the legs, hip flexors, glutes, or arching the lower back.  However, several exercises that target these orgasmic tummy muscles are easy to do at home.

Some options might be the Reverse Crunch, Bicycle Crunches, V-Lift, Pilates Leg Raises, most of Yoga, Swiss Ball exercises such as the Jack Knife (or Pike), rolling into Child Pose, etc. — almost any abdominal exercise that focuses on the lower abs to do the work while the knees are bent.  Be careful not to extend the legs too much which starts to work the legs and cause the back to arch.  And as with any exercise program, consult your medical professional first.

OpEd: Shaving the Genitals: Why I Prefer Going Bare Down There

Toenails confound me.  Perhaps toenails once served a purpose as claws when we wore loincloths and had to fend for ourselves in hand-to-hand combat.  Or maybe they helped us climb hills to plan an attack on a mammoth or run up a tree fleeing a saber tooth tiger.  Toenails have outlived their usefulness in the 21st century, as have the Appendix or the bones of the coccyx that recall our once fluffy mammalian tail.

Genital hair is just as useless in my opinion.  Oh, sure, some say genital hair acts as a cushion during mating, and scientists say genital hair’s original purpose was to absorb the pheromones of a lover, their scent lingering long after he or she had left the coital splendor.  Absorbing scent is the main reason I don’t care for the au naturel hairy-mammoth-between-the-legs look.  Though I have other reasons as well…

After the BP oil spill in 2010, people around the world donated their luscious locks (from their head) to be woven together into absorbent mats and dropped on the affected Gulf.  Hair was reportedly the best material for absorbing the oil.  Soaking up moisture is another reason I shave.

I read an article recently that claimed over 60% of women under the age of 40 in the U.S. shave some or all of their genital hair.  It seems that the 20-somethings shave the most, around 80% of them, while women in the 40 to 60 age range are slowly increasing their numbers in the bare-down-there department — perhaps coinciding with the rise in cougardom?  Older women looking for younger men who’s tastes have been developed by what they’ve seen in porn?

For the longest time, I only shaved my labia and the sides of my mons veneris, maintaining a sufficient inverted triangle of fuzz as a testament to my adulthood.  Seeing females with completely shaved genitals in porn and skin mags would kinda creep me out.  It was as if they were targeting male viewers who preferred young females — very young females.  The pre-pubescent look just wasn’t for me.

Only recently did I begin shaving it all as bare as a genetically-altered lab rat.  In the shower late one night, I was tired and barely awake under the soothing hot water.  But knowing I couldn’t tolerate a day of stubble, I hoisted my leg up onto the tub faucet and began shaving, and then — oops! — the razor slipped.  My perfect triangle was now gouged.  So I thought, why the hell not?!  And I shaved myself completely bare for the first time ever.  (This is in light of the fact that I haven’t shaved my thighs since I was 21.  But my genitals get the razor treatment every night, and sometimes during the day.)

For a woman, the genital area is dark, damp, and humid.  In Western society, women tend to be covered up under layers of clothing, underwear, and hosiery.  Women’s genital hair absorbs a variety of moist substances including sweat, oils, vaginal fluids, urine, and blood.

The hair also absorbs the smells from being saturated with any combination of those fluids while maintaining a hot, humid 98.6 degree body temperature.  It’s no wonder men think women smell like fish!  (Though the fishy smell is usually a sign of a bacterial problem that needs attention.)  Even gynecologists have begun recommending women shave at least the labia to lessen the chance of bacteria hanging out in the bush(es) and making its way into the vagina, possibly causing any number of issues from bacterial vaginosis to chronic pelvic inflammation disease.

I readily admit that shaving the genitals is a form of body modification, as is a woman shaving her legs and armpits, or a man shaving stubble from his face or waxing his back.  Any kind of grooming can be seen as “changing the body,” from wearing make-up or painting your nails to getting your cranial locks trimmed and styled.  Wearing deodorant could even be viewed as body modification!

While certain forms of body modification are simply barbaric, such as male circumcision and female genital mutilation, I have no qualms asking a partner to shave his or her nether-regions. Why? #1 – The person decides if he or she will shave their genitals, and #2 – The hair will grow back. Therefore, asking a partner to shave or “manscape” is perfectly acceptable. Why?  #1 – The person maintained his/her freedoms of choice and will, and #2 – Shaving is not a permanent change.

I remember very clearly the first time I shaved “down under.”  The tub drain clogged up. I dreaded the thought of calling a plumber and having to explain, as someone with long, flowing tresses, where all that short hair came from.

I also remember the moment I actually told someone why I shave.  It was after one of our weekend-long theatre orgies, and a friend and I were making the bed before we had to leave for rehearsal.  She said something that prompted me to respond, quite matter-of-factly, “I started shaving because I got tired of getting the hairs caught between my fingers when I masturbated.”  (This might have been the first time I actually said the word “masturbated” out loud.)  My friend, who was shockless, seemed amused (and shocked). And yet, the gleam in her eye told me she totally understood.

Another incident or two led me to “require” the shaving of my partners.  Though you’re not likely to see a hairy penis in porn, some men do have hair along the shaft, and yes, I prefer that shaved as well.  I have mad skills in the oral pleasure department, thank you very much, and my main issue with male genital hair is that I love sucking testicles.  Shaved testicles have the mouth feel of sucking on peeled grapes.  An intriguing texture, to be sure.

Simply put, I got tired of pubic hair becoming dental floss.  For me, nothing ruins giving a great oral session faster than having to pause and scrape loose short hairs off the roof of my mouth with my tongue — picture a dog trying to eat peanut butter — it’s not pretty.

Then there’s the hair around the anus and trapped up along the butt crack.  Put your nose in that area of someone’s backside if you can’t imagine the smells those genital hairs absorb!

Shaving makes me feel so much cleaner and healthier.  In fact, as I like to say, “My cunt’s so clean you could eat off it.”

Because I work at home, I have the luxury of washing off after I go to the bathroom.  I know I can put my hand between my legs any time and love the smell on my fingers because the only scent that’s there is my true essence from deep with me.

So I completely respect a person’s right not to change his or her body by shaving.  However, my potential partner will have to respect that I’m not going to gag on pubes or unpleasant aromas from their nether-regions.  (And really, who would turn down sex over this anyway?)  So shave or move along.

Aroused and squeaky clean,

NEWS: Sex Education in Middle School Still Includes Abstinence-Only Program

After the disgusting male chauvinism displayed by the Republicans in the United States Congress recently, the Puritanical hammer hit home (again) this morning.

I received a recorded phone message from my daughter’s middle school, explaining that the new state law requiring sex education in our public schools is going into effect. Parents and educators are being asked to answer a survey to see what “kind” of sex-education program would be administered to the little darlings.

Trying to do my duty as a mother, I went to the website to take this “survey” and was shocked at what I saw. It was not a survey so much as an either-or choice that clearly shows you’re either a religious Southern Republican or a leftist heathen Democrat (living in the South). Our choices for the survey were: Abstinence-ONLY or
Abstinence-Plus-Education.

After lifting my jaw off the floor, I could only exclaim, “REALLY??!! Those are the options?! Either way, abstinence is still a major part of the curriculum?!”

I remember seeing a study since the Bush regime’s Abstinence-Only sex-education programs went into effect that showed teen pregnancies skyrocketed as has sexually transmitted diseases among teenagers. A friend of mine who is studying to be a nurse told me that in one of his STD courses, he learned that the group in which HIV is spreading the fastest is among teenage girls aged 13-18.

My daughter is 13. Oh, goddess, help me.

Thanks, Bush! Your legacy will live on via unwanted teen pregnancies that will either be aborted, put up for adoption, or force many teenage girls to go on Medicaid, WIC, and even Welfare, as well as a generation of teens who will spend the next 80 years of their lives with sexually transmitted diseases — assuming they live that long. Bush, you’ve done a bang-up job of perpetuating the Republican agenda — “no” to accurate information on sex and women’s rights, but “yes” to guns, corporate greed, war, and the death penalty. Considering Republicans hate the cost of social programs like Medicaid and Welfare, you’d think they would see the correlation between abstinence-only sex education and the rising numbers of people receiving tax-payer paid services and monthly government checks ON these social programs.

If bullying is the new evil, then why are our legislators bullying us and our children into the vacuum of religious and political brainwashing? I’m damn sure not drinking this Kool-aid!

Back to the survey I was taking, there was a third choice of “Other” with a little box to accommodate a comment. Of course, I chose that option. Here’s my response to
their ridiculous sex-ed program proposal:

“ABSTINENCE is NOT a realistic option. The human body is biologically ready for sex at the onset of puberty at age 11 or 12, and a hundred years ago, girls were married and having kids at 16. Humans are supposed to be sexual. To push a Republican agenda on our kids is WRONG. Kids need to know about sex, safe-sex practices INCLUDING birth control and condoms, as well as the consequences of sex, including pregnancy, STDs, and other infections that cause health problems (HPV, pelvic inflammation issues, etc.). I VOTE FOR EDUCATION not Puritanical religious bullshit. Feel free to email me at (my personal email).”

WOMEN OF THE UNITED STATES: If we don’t consistently stand up for our rights as human beings, as women, and as American citizens, we will find ourselves BACK in the status of second-class citizens, with no voice in the government, merely existing as the property of our father or our husband, and spending our lives barefoot and pregnant while serving the family as the maid, cook, laundress, teacher, and general slave, and serving the husband as his personal whore — a life with no rights to our bodies and no rights to our self-determination as human beings.

Sex-Education is NOT just about the penis and the vagina, or birth control or STDs. Sex-Education is about educating the WHOLE PERSON on their rights to be sexual and sensual, to choose what happens to his or her body, to know the consequences of being sexual, and know the options for dealing with the consequences.

Wake up, America. Turn off the reality TV and other cultural mind-numbing devices, and see the brainwashing that is going on around us and to our children.

OpEd: Fish Oil, Omega-3, & ‘The Orgasm Diet’

No woman wants to discuss fish when talking about the workings of the vagina. The schoolyard jokes come more easily than orgasms.

Most women have heard about the book The Orgasmic Diet: A Revolutionary Plan to Lift Your Libido and Bring You to Orgasm by Marrena Lindberg, but I had never read it. I heard it was mostly about taking lots of fish oil to get the libido going. As someone who doesn’t like seafood, this didn’t seem like the diet for me.

For full disclosure, my copy of the book hasn’t arrived yet. I’ll write a full review once it appears in my mailbox! But I wanted to share a little bit of what I’ve found as well as what I’m currently doing.

In November 2011, I had a great breakthrough with my KSMO pursuits, experiencing orgasms like I never had before, and one event in particular that had me literally ready to die in the throws of orgasmic bliss if need be. Then the holidays hit: Thanksgiving, the Financial Shop-apolooza formerly known as a Holy Day (Christmas), New Year’s — even Martin Luther King, Jr., Day now earns shoppers coupons and discounts. Joy to the world, indeed.
The holidays, the stress, the being a single mom all took their toll. Living in an apartment building, I stopped my KSMO practice because I didn’t want to scare the neighbors with my screams of pleasure, and my daughter was home from school (for the week of Thanksgiving, the 2.5 weeks of Christmas/New Year’s, the long 3-day weekend for MLK). I just didn’t have any privacy anymore.

Not one to blame my lack of libido on anyone other than myself, I started to look at what I was doing in the Fall that I wasn’t doing now. Sex drive is all about hormones, and I wanted to see if I had been eating or doing something back then that was beneficial to my sex hormones.

Last Fall, I wasn’t drinking caffeine, and I was losing weight thanks to a product that affects the hypothalamus in the brain, controlling blood sugar and insulin release in the body. Even still, I was eating out quite a bit, mostly healthy burgers and only the occasional doughnut, but I lost weight anyway. And I was able to kick my horrible Diet Coke habit!

With the stress of work deadlines and the growing frustration of the people around me seemingly never going to work, my orgasm practice came to a halt, and my libido slowly frittered away. I went off the weight loss product as a test to see if I would gain back the weight. Miraculously, I didn’t — but I didn’t lose any more weight either. I started drinking caffeine again; I was ordering way too many pizzas — did I mention the stress I was under? — and I knew I was on a slippery slope of gaining back the 33 pounds I’d lost.

I recently went back on the product. My cravings for “bad food” have gone away, and I eat a lot less when I do eat. I’ve started losing weight again. So this is good. I got off Diet Coke again, so that’s even better. But my libido wasn’t back, and I was even feeling a bit… dry… down there… regularly. I’ve never been dry! In fact, a former partner used to lament that I would get “too wet” during sex and he’d lose friction.

I’m 39, but I think this is way too young to be dealing with vaginal dryness. This impelled me to seek answers from Dr. Google on the much-hyped fish oil and orgasm diet.

Fish oil seems to have many health benefits, including anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties as well as potential use in treating numerous mood issues such as depression, anxiety, and even ADD/ADHD.

What most people are looking for in a fish oil supplement is the Omega-3. Some doctors report that Omega-3 can help people suffering from heart disease, alcoholism, obsessive compulsive disorder, insomnia, agoraphobia, and withdrawal from narcotics.

According to the University of Maryland’s website:

“Research shows that omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation and may help lower risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and arthritis. Omega-3 fatty acids are highly concentrated in the brain and appear to be important for cognitive (brain memory and performance) and behavioral function. In fact, infants who do not get enough omega-3 fatty acids from their mothers during pregnancy are at risk for developing vision and nerve problems. Symptoms of omega-3 fatty acid deficiency include fatigue, poor memory, dry skin, heart problems, mood swings or depression, and poor circulation.”

Omega-3 is sadly lacking in many Americans’ diets because of the high amount of processed foods consumed in this country. Processed foods, foods made with hydrogenated oils, foods made from unfermented soy, and meat from livestock and poultry raised on a diet of soybeans all contribute to higher levels of Omega-6 in the body. Taking an Omega-3 supplement may help get your body in balance.

The problem with fish oil capsules is that they can taste fishy. Also, there is no known recommended allowance of fish oil itself — some people can ingest a lot and be fine, others have adverse reactions after taking very little fish oil. Only you and your medical professional can determine what is right for you.

For me, I just wanted to see if fish oil would help get my body nice and juicy again. I looked in my spice cabinet in my kitchen, and lurking at the back of the bottom shelf was a bottle of fish oil capsules. I checked the expiration date — it was still well within its “best before” date. So I took one after dinner that evening, another after breakfast the next morning, and another after dinner that night. The next morning, I felt a familiar sensation between my legs that had been missing for a couple of months: heat, throbbing, and best of all, juices — lots of juices. The fish oil seemed to be working! (Of course, I was also drinking a lot of water to keep my prostate hydrated for future uses.)

The fish oil I had on hand is a concentrated fish oil with 600mg Omega-3 per capsule. Taking two per day, I’m getting 1200mg of Omega-3. One potential complaint I have with Lindberg’s book is that she recommends taking 8 fish oil supplements per day. I have seen Lindberg write that on various website forums as well. With quantities of Omega-3 ranging from 300mg per capsule to over 1000mg per capsule, the amount of fish oil a person would be taking if they solely go by “8 per day” could be astronomic. In her defense, her book, The Orgasmic Diet, also recommends eating a balanced diet, dark chocolate, and doing pelvic exercises. So it can’t be all that bad, right?

In response to one query, Lindberg wrote:

“Fish oil protects against some cancers, in particular breast and prostate cancer. ‘STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN. Several test tube (in vitro) and animal experiments have clearly shown that the long-chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), the main components of fish oil, help inhibit the promotion and progression of cancer. Their beneficial effect
is particularly pronounced in hormone-dependent cancers such as breast and prostate cancer. Some, but not all, epidemiologic studies have also found a beneficial effect.’ Larsson, SC, et al. Dietary long-chain n-3
fatty acids for the prevention of cancer: a review of potential mechanisms. American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Vol. 79, June 2004, pp. 935-45.

“I am not a medical doctor, but the doctor who wrote the foreword to my book is, and he approves of the diet, as does Dr. Joseph Hibbeln at the NIH, a leading expert on fish oil.”

In my own experiment, with 1200mg Omega-3 per day, I had a significant juice boost after only 36 hours. I’ve noticed my nipples getting hard without any stimulation or lusty thoughts (or cold drafts); and that has brought back my lovely Kundalini cervical orgasms. I have not had a KSMO session since last week, so tomorrow should be interesting!

My personal choice is to increase the Omega-3 dosage but not the amount of fish oil while increasing the libido effects. I have seen several people report acne outbreaks from the consumption of fish oil capsules. However, after some trial and error of opening the fish oil capsules and putting the fish oil directly on food, such as a Caesar’s Salad, the acne cleared up. It seems to have been the capsule itself causing the reaction, not the fish oil.

In my search for the perfect ratio of high Omega-3 to as little fish oil as possible, I stumbled across Triple Strength Omega-3 GOLD – 1,060 mg of Omega 3 each capsule (1000mg EPA + DHA).

I’m not even waiting to finish this bottle I have. I will be getting the Omega-3 Gold next week, and I’ll write an update on how the orgasms are coming then.

Want to buy fish oil for your libido? Here’s what you should look for:

  • Concentrated fish oil – more Omega-3 in less fish oil
  • Tested to be free of potentially harmful levels of mercury, heavy metals, PCB’s, dioxins, and other contaminants
  • No gluten, yeast, or dairy
  • Enteric coated so the capsule remains intact in the stomach but dissolves in the small intestine, which helps eliminate “fish burps”
  • Odor controlled

So tomorrow will be my first go at a post-fish oil orgasm. Once the results are in, I’ll report from the field!
